Knights Softball Athlete Scholarship Guidelines & Application Criteria

Scholarship Purpose:
The purpose of the Naples Knights Softball Scholarship is to support and recognize student-athletes who demonstrate:

  • Commitment to softball

  • Academic responsibility

  • Sportsmanship and leadership

This scholarship is intended to assist with post-secondary education.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

1) Residency

Must be a resident of Collier or Lee County

2) Athletic Participation

Must be an active softball athlete during the current or most recent season

  • Participation may include:

o High School Softball
o Travel / Club softball
o Recreational or league softball affiliated with a recognized organization

3) Academic Status

  • A graduating high school senior

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 

4) Character & Conduct

  • Demonstrates good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for coaches, teammates, and officials

  • No record of serious disciplinary action within the organization or school

Allowable Use of Funds

Scholarship funds may be used for one or more of the following:

  • College or vocational tuition

  • Required books and academic supplies

Funds will be paid directly to the school or vendor when possible.

 

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following by the stated deadline:

Required Documents:

  1. Completed Scholarship Application Form (Click for Application)

  2. Personal Essay (300–500 words; see below for prompt)

  3. Academic Transcript (unofficial acceptable)

  4. Letter of Recommendation (one required)

Essay Prompt:

Describe how softball has impacted your life, the values it has taught you, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your future academic or athletic goals.

Recommendation Letter:

  • From a coach, teacher, or school counselor

  • Must speak to the applicant’s:

    • Character

    • Work ethic

    • Team involvement

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by a Scholarship Committee appointed by the organization’s Board

  • Committee members must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves, if necessary

  • Decisions are final and not subject to appeal

 

Award Details

  • Award Amount: $1,000

  • Award Frequency: One-time

Recipients agree to:

  • Use funds only for approved purposes

  • Provide proof of enrollment or participation upon request

  • Allow the organization to use name and photo for recognition

Application Deadline & Submission

  • Deadline: May 1, 2026

  • Recipients will be contacted by May 15th
